No. 11 UConn Women Beat St. John’s 60-32
NEW YORK (AP) _ Mel Thomas led No. 11 Connecticut with 12 points, snapping St. John’s 11-game winning streak with a 60-32 victory on Sunday.
Ann Strother had three 3-pointers for 11 points and Charde Houston added 10 points for the Huskies (7-3), who have won 21 straight over the Red Storm.
Reserve Kati Kurtosi led St. John’s (11-1) with eight points.
UConn jumped to a 10-0 start while the Red Storm missed their first nine shots. The Huskies put together 13 straight points en route to a 23-3 lead with 8:10 left in the first half.
St. John’s trailed 31-8 at the break and shot 22 percent. UConn outrebounded the Red Storm 52-39 and shot 39 percent. Willnett Crockett had 11 rebounds for the Huskies.
