Services Held for Florida Family

July 2, 2001

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) _ A mother and three children who died in a murder-suicide were remembered Sunday by about 300 grieving family and friends.

``I’ve done funerals before, but this one is going to be very tough for me. I’ve never done four at one time,″ said the Rev. James Knox, pastor of Haw Branch AME Church in Richlands, where the victims attended church.

A coroner ruled that the deaths of Robin Parker, 33, and her children _ two girls and a boy _ were caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

The bodies were found Tuesday on the floor in the garage by her fiance, Steven Williams, father of the two youngest. He told investigators a car in the garage was still running when he arrived.

Cartara Quantae Williams was 10, Shonteona Marie Williams would have turned 3 on Wednesday and QuaSean DeVon Williams was 11 months old.

Parker was being investigated for embezzlement and neighbors say she was apparently having financial problems. Investigators have not yet suggested a motive.

Police said Parker was being investigated for stealing more than $9,000 while working as the manager of an apartment complex.

Neighbors said the water at Parker’s home had recently been turned off and that they didn’t think she was employed at the time of the deaths.
