Police plan to charge son of elderly woman living in squalor
WEBSTER, Mass. (AP) — Police in eastern Massachusetts plan to charge a man with neglect of an elder after his 96-year-old mother was found living in severe squalor.
Webster police told The Telegram & Gazette (http://bit.ly/1Mt2AX1 ) on Thursday that they expect a court summons to be issued soon charging 68-year-old Michael Robillard with neglecting Helen Robillard.
Town officials removed Helen Robillard from her home after discovering she was surrounded by trash and living in near-darkness. Officials said there was debris piled 5 feet high, mold and no running water. The home also reeked of rotting food, fecal matter, ammonia from urine and raw sewage.
Officials say Michael Robillard’s house across the street was nearly as bad. Both houses were condemned.
Michael Robillard didn’t return a message from The Associated Press on Thursday night.
