Ruiz Foods employees donate gifts for children

December 15, 2018

FLORENCE, S.C. – Ruiz Foods stepped up Friday afternoon for 40 Christmas Angels and the Salvation Army.

Ruiz Foods has participated in the Angel Tree program since 2015 and plant employees have donated gifts to more than 200 children.

A group of plant employees gathered Friday afternoon to help load a truck — full from front to back with toys, clothing and bicycles — from the Army.

“We’re happy we’re going to have Ruiz partner with us and our Angel Tree Program to bless children in the community with Christmas,” said Heather Steverson with the Florence Corps of the Salvation Army.

Steverson said that in years past Ruiz employees have done well for the angels.

“We’re glad to partner with them,” Steverson said.

“We are very grateful that our team members continue to support our partnership with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program,” said Peter Mayadag, director of operations, Ruiz Foods Florence. “They work very hard to give back to the Florence community in a number of ways. During the holidays when many families are facing a bit of a tough time, team members came through to help put a smile on a child’s face.”

The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle and Angel Tree Campaigns seek to provide holiday joy, toys, food, clothing and comfort to those in need during Christmas.
