RIFF: Dozens of new films in Ridgefield
More than two dozen films and panels will be presented at the third annual Ridgefield Independent Film Festival.
The festival, running from Thursday, Oct. 18 to Sunday, Oct. 21, will showcase the local premiere of “Wildlife,” the directorial debut of actor Paul Dano, starring Carey Mulligan and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film is being screened opening night.
New Canaan native Allison Williams, who starred in last year’s huge indie hit “Get Out,” will be doing a special public interview and question-and-answer session Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum.
The RIFF events will take place in several venues around town, including the Aldrich, the Ridgefield Playhouse, the Ridgefield Library and the Ridgefield Theater Barn.
The “special events” track is dedicated to documentaries, with the five screenings including “Say Her Name” about the mysterious death of a black civil rights activist in a Texas jail; and “Danseur,” about the continuing challenge of getting boys to study ballet.
