Boat hits rock in Boston Harbor; 6 aboard rescued

September 28, 2014

BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say a 50-foot luxury boat has sunk in Boston Harbor and all six aboard have been rescued, with only minor injuries reported.

Marine unit troopers responded to a call for help at 7:18 p.m. Saturday after police say the Sea Ray struck a rock between Spectacle Island and the Long Island Bridge. State police say the boat operator and five passengers were helped off the craft as it sank and became completely submerged.

Police say the operator — 44-year-old Paul Boulanger, of North Andover — was arrested on charges of boating under the influence of alcohol. They say it was too dark to put divers in the water to help recover the boat and recovery efforts would resume Sunday.
