MAPUTO, Mozambique (AP) _ Searchers found 63 bodies and another 78 people were missing Friday in a landslide that followed heavy rain, Radio Mozambique reported.

Rescuers have been retrieving bodies from the rock and mud that plunged down Tumbine mountain Tuesday onto Chizongue settlement in central Zambezia province.

Mozambique's main relief agency said it was sending blankets, clothes, medicine and other supplies to the area, and that construction on damaged roads and bridges would begin as soon as possible.

The heavy rain also has caused flooding and wiped out roads in other parts of the southeast African country, which is still struggling to recover from a 15-year civil war that ended in 1992.
