Wyoming Legislature’s interim topics finalized
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming Legislature interim committees will study a broad range of topics this year, covering everything from revenue-broadening tax measures to how to care for an aging population.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that the Legislature’s Management Council assigned interim topics to 10 committees and five subcommittees on Friday.
Each committee will deal with about a half-dozen issues throughout the rest of the year, and potentially draft legislation for the 2020 session.
The Joint Revenue Interim Committee was again assigned the task of trying to find ways to broaden the state’s revenue streams. Last winter’s session rejected several of the committee’s proposals.
A major focus will be an in-depth examination of long-term planning options for funding public education and general government services.
The committee will also examine taxing wind and other renewables.
