Fleeing driver causes deadly crash; wife demands justice

January 17, 2019

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A woman is demanding justice after a fleeing driver in a stolen pickup truck crashed into her husband’s car in St. Louis, killing him.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Sharron Long-Lee says she faults the truck thieves and police for the death Tuesday of her 48-year-old husband, Harvey Lee. Long-Lee says “somebody has got to pay.”

Police say the truck’s driver refused to pull over after being spotted driving erratically. Police say the officers “followed the vehicle for a short distance” but lost sight of it about three blocks from where the driver ran a stoplight and slammed into Lee’s car. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The truck’s 19-year-old driver was taken to a hospital, along with a 20-year-old woman and two teens. Charges are pending.
