Stanton woman injured in accident
STANTON - A Stanton woman was injured after a one-vehicle accident Wednesday morning.
According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger, the accident occurred when a northbound SUV driven by 18-year-old Abigail Lohan left 568th Avenue just north of Highway 275, for unknown reasons struck a bridge rail and plunged off the roadway about fifteen feet into a creek bed.
The bridge railing impaled the driver’s side windshield just missing her head.
Lohan was extricated from the wreckage by the Sheriff’s office and then transported by ambulance to Faith Regional Health Services.
Investigators consider it miraculous that Lohan was not more seriously injured and credit seatbelts being worn by Lohan.
The SUV was not visible from the roadway and is considered a total loss. Stanton Emergency Management and Stanton Fire also responded to the scene.
