Clear Springs uses burst to race past Clear Falls, 64-27
Garrett Rooker completed 12 of 17 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns while running back Todd Hudson scored four times, leading Clear Springs to a 64-27 win over Clear Falls in a District 24-6A football opener Friday at Challenger Columbia Stadium.
Rooker also ran one yard for Springs’ first score. His touchdown passes covered 35 yards to Terrance Woodson and 57 and 16 yards to Isaiah Bibb.
Clear Falls quarterback Gavin Esquivel had an outstanding night, completing 22 of 39 attempts for 276 yards and four scores. His scoring tosses covered 27 yards to Patrick Florence, 12 yards to Donte Proctor, 43 yards to Daniel Dishman and 23 yards to Brandon Woodson.
Clear Springs running back Hudson rushed 19 times for 160 yards and three touchdowns. His scoring runs covered one, five and 38 yards. Hudson also had a 63-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Clear Springs led just 14-13 after one quarter but used a 28-point second quarter to open a 42-20 halftime lead.
Clear Springs rolled up 525 yards of offense to 345 for the Knights.
