Fencing installed around Flats on 4th

September 14, 2018

Contractors install fencing at the entrance of the Flats on 4th building Thursday in Huntington.

HUNTINGTON — Fencing has been put up around the Flats on 4th, located at 1415 4th Ave. in Huntington, in a move aimed at preventing entry to the property, which has stood abandoned since owner C2C Realty LLC filed for bankruptcy earlier this year.

Orange plastic fencing has been placed at the entrances of the property. According to city attorney Scott Damron, Chase Bank, which owns the first lien on the property, agreed to pay the city to contract a company to have construction fencing placed around the building. The cost is estimated to be about $1,200.

The fencing was put up as an effort to curb criminal activity. The property has been littered with trash and drug paraphernalia, and there are signs that squatters are living in the facility. A pool with stagnant water has been filled with trash, as well.
