ELGIN — Will Tschetter was sharp from the get-go Friday, and he passed Stewartville past Plainview-Elgin-Millville in a Southeast District football game, 28-9.

Tschetter completed 23 of 29 pass attempts (79.3 percent) for 236 yards and three touchdowns.

He threw two touchdown passes to tight end Zac Trenary, who finished with five catches for 71 yards. Nathan Johnson also caught a 10-yard scoring pass from Tschetter in the first half and finished with six catches for 74 yards.

Trenary also led the Tigers defensively, making a team-high nine tackles.

P-E-M twice drove inside Stewartville’s 5-yard line in the first half, but came away without points. The Tigers defense held the Bulldogs on downs on one possession, then P-E-M fumbled at the Tigers’ 2 on another possession.

That left Stewartville with a 21-0 halftime lead, and the Tigers held off P-E-M in the second half.

The Bulldogs (0-3) scored on an 18-yard run by Riley Wingert in the third quarter, then added a safety in the fourth quarter when Tschetter was called for intentional grounding in the end zone. Wingert led P-E-M with 167 yards on 18 carries.

P-E-M finished with 242 yards of offense, all on the ground. Stewartville had 359 yards of offense.
