Man Arrested in Hospital Shootings
GRIFFIN, Ga. (AP) _ A man accused of gunning down his girlfriend and her father in a hospital emergency room, then shooting another man as he fled, was arrested early today.
Aregiss Anton Clark, 20, of East Point was arrested at a house in Atlanta about 3 a.m. and brought back to Griffin, police spokesman James Landham said.
Landham said Clark faces at least 24 felony warrants in Griffin alone, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. A hearing was to be scheduled within 24 hours of his arrest.
Clark is accused of seriously wounding Benita Jester, 20, and killing her father, 41-year-old Marcus Jester, in the Griffin-Spalding County Regional Hospital emergency room Monday night.
Ms. Jester was in critical condition today at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta.
Dwight Harris, 27, was shot in the leg while trying to stop the gunman from taking a woman’s car a short distance away from the hospital. Harris was treated at a hospital and released.
