Police: Durham woman fought off intruder in home
A woman was unharmed after she fought off a man who broke into her home Thursday, Durham police said.
Authorities said the woman had left the door to her Pike Street home unlocked and came home to find an intruder inside her house at about 1 p.m.
The woman yelled and the intruder charged at her but fled without taking anything following a brief struggle, police said.
The woman’s neighbor, Elijah Stanley, said he heard her screaming and ran outside to see the man and woman struggling in the street.
“He kind of grappled, pushed her and she was sitting on the street out in front of her house, so I ran up to her as he was running off through the woods behind both of our houses,” Stanley said.
Police said no charges have been filed in the case.
