The Kankakee Public Library will host another monthly book club. The new Tuesday Morning Book Discussion will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. in the third floor meeting room. Coffee, tea, water and treats will be provided!
The book to be discussed Tuesday, Sept. 11, is “The Garden of Small Beginnings” by Abbi Waxman. Books are currently available on the first floor of the library.
The story follows Lilian Girvan who is widowed when her husband is killed in a car accident that she witnesses just 50 feet from their home. Lilian, along with her three daughters, manages to get through each day thanks to the help of her supportive, single sister.
Lilian is an illustrator at a scholastic publishing company. She is assigned to a new task of creating images for a boutique vegetable guide. There’s a catch — she must take a six-week gardening class.
But what she’ll soon discover, with the help of a patient instructor and a quirky group of gardeners, is that into every life a little sun must shine, whether you want it to or not.
This program is free and open to the public. Call 815-939-4564 with any questions.
