LAS VEGAS (AP) — O.J. Simpson reportedly is laying low after being released from a prison early Sunday, some 90 miles east of Reno, Nevada. Simpson served nine years for a 2007 armed robbery. A Nevada state prisons spokeswoman released a video showing the 70-year-old former football star walking through the prison’s open door Sunday morning, toward a parking lot and into a car with a driver. A parole official says Simpson plans to live at a home in the Las Vegas area for the foreseeable future.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The man convicted of killing the 2-year-old son of NFL running back Adrian Peterson is going before the state Supreme Court in South Dakota. Joseph Patterson was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2013 death of Tyrese Ruffin, whose mother was Patterson’s girlfriend. Patterson appealed the conviction, arguing that his jury trial was mishandled. Attorneys are expected to make several arguments today, including whether prosecutors should have mentioned certain information to the jury.

UNDATED (AP) — The Yankees and Twins will hold workouts in New York ahead of Tuesday’s AL wild-card game at Yankee Stadium, and eyes will be on Minnesota’s Miguel Sano. The hulking slugger is 1 for 8 in three games since missing 38 games with a stress reaction in his left shin. The team will wait to see how he responds before making decisions on his availability for the game against the Yankees.

UNDATED (AP) — Three teams have gotten a jump on the offseason by dumping their skippers already. The Phillies say Pete Mackanin will not return as manager in 2018, though he will stay in the organization. Brad Ausmus won’t be back as manager of the Tigers, who are already interviewing candidates to replace him. And Terry Collins resigned as manager of the Mets to take a job in the team’s front office.

UNDATED (AP) — Eight countries will join already-qualified Belgium at next year’s World Cup in Russia when group play in the European zone is wrapped up over the next week. There are two rounds of games still to be played, and Germany, England, Spain, Poland and Serbia look in strong positions to top their groups and advance. The nine group winners will qualify automatically.
