LOCAL COLLEGE ROUNDUP: King’s Women Win Opener
Three Monarchs scored at least 20 points as King’s women’s basketball went on the road and won its season opener, 86-81, over Gwynedd Mercy.
Mackenzie Yori led with 26 points, Alexis Steeber had 21 to go with a team-high five rebounds. Rebecca Prociak finished with 20 points.
Susquehanna 79, Wilkes 66
At the Marts Center, Wilkes dropped to 1-2 with the home loss.
Alyssa Alfano led Wilkes with 20 points and six rebounds. Maddie Kelley chipped in 15 points and Gab Giordano pulled down 10 rebounds.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre 54, Clarks Summit 44
At Clarks Summit, Penn State Wilkes-Barre won its opener behind 11 points from Gianna Staff.
At Hazleton, Wilkes opened its season with a convincing win over Penn State Hazleton, 80-60.
Mark Mullins led the Colonels with 23 points, Rob Pecorelli was right behind with 21.
Andy Kwaitkowski scored 15 to lead Penn State Hazleton.
Penn State Wilkes-Barre 88, Davis 78
At Syracuse, the Mountain Lions were led by Jordan Williams with 17 points and five assists. Kevin Silverberg added 16 points and six assists.
Kahlil White scored 13 while Ameer Biddle had 11 points and six rebounds.
Muhlenberg 62, King’s 53
At McGrane Gymnasium, the Monarchs fell 0-2 to start the new season.
Nate Henty Brown led three Monarchs scoring in double figures with 19 points.
Dan Gaines had a double-double with 15 points an 11 rebounds. Noah Watson chipped in 12 points.
