Injured flanker Curry ruled out of rest of England tests

November 6, 2018

LONDON (AP) — Flanker Tom Curry was ruled out of the rest of England’s rugby tests this month because of the left ankle he injured against South Africa.

Curry limped off after halftime in the 12-11 win on Saturday at Twickenham, and a scan revealed he will be sidelined for an unknown period, but long enough to miss the tests against New Zealand, Japan, and Australia.

“We don’t know how long he’ll be out for, but he won’t be back for our next three tests,” forwards coach Steve Borthwick said on Tuesday.

Neither did he elaborate on the injury.

Curry became an automatic pick on the openside after his debut five tests ago in June in South Africa.

“He’s got a fantastic future ahead of him,” Borthwick said. “I know that with his attitude he’ll come back in even better shape.”

Borthwick added center Manu Tuilagi and lock Courtney Lawes were training again after respective groin and back complaints, and available to play the All Blacks this Saturday at Twickenham.
