ROBERT MORRIS ‘BOB’ KENNARD of Kenova

ROBERT MORRIS “BOB” KENNARD, 85 of Kenova, W.Va., husband of Margaret Marie Decker Kennard, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at his residence. He was retired from ownership of the Giovanni’s Pizza franchise in Grayson, Ky., and was previously a longtime employee of Armco Steel in Ashland, Ky. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in our nation’s Cold War defense across Germany. He was an avid bass fisherman and member of “Lunker Hunters” fishing club, spending countless enjoyable hours at his sport at lakes across Kentucky, West Virginia and Ontario, Canada. Like many native Kentuckians, Bob was a lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball team. Additionally he was a Kentucky Colonel. Bob was born on June 29, 1933, in Paintsville, Ky., a son of the late Alton B. and Josephine Miller Kennard. He was also preceded in death by his infant brother Elvis Kennard. In addition to his wife of 40 years, Bob is survived by five children, Mark (Pam) Kennard of Worthington, Ky., Kimberly (Steve) Abbott of Grayson, Ky., Melissa (Clinton) Burley of Kenova, W.Va., Michael Bowling of Melbourne, Fla., and Nausha Norton of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Joan Kennard Rudnick of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren, Dr. Lauren (Alexander) Tufts of Kenova, W.Va., Lindsay Burley of Kenova, W.Va., Crystal (Ryan) McDavid of Flatwoods, Ky., Candace (Travis) Piatt of Raceland, Ky., Caitlin (JJ) Caudill of Greenup, Ky., Christi (Jeff) Jones of Flatwoods, Ky., Susan (Aaron) Canfield of Bellefonte, Ky., Amber Bowling of Melbourne, Fla., and Latausha Norton of Orlando, Fla. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and a host of more distant relatives and friends, each whom he held dear. Friends greeted the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Malone Funeral Home, Grayson, Ky. A service celebrating Bob’s life was conducted by the Rev. Jamie Gump, and followed at 1 p.m. Graveside services with complete military honors were conducted at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Argillite, Ky.
