Brisbane Roar say Spanish midfielder Miguel Corona to leave
BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — The Brisbane Roar said Friday that Spanish midfielder Miguel Corona has been granted a release from his contract with the A-League team to return to Spain.
Australian media reported the 35-year-old former Real Madrid junior has been offered a playing role at a Spanish club that also includes a coaching position after he retires.
Brisbane coach John Aloisi said Corona, who scored two goals in 29 matches for the Roar this season, “is someone who embraced our club values and we’re fortunate to have known such a great professional.”
Corona was named to the A-League ‘team of the season’ for 2015-16.
