2 deaths under investigation near South Carolina coast

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Sheriff’s deputies are investigating two weekend shooting deaths near the South Carolina coast.

Media outlets reported that Beaufort County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the shooting death of 29-yea-rold Rockiem Graham of Hilton Head Island. Graham was found dead in the back seat of a vehicle pulled over by officers shortly before 8 p.m. Saturday.

An autopsy is planned Monday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Deputies were called to a shooting in Bluffton around 9:40 p.m. Saturday. The victim was 54-yea-rold Betty Brayshaw of Bluffton.

Deputies say family members had called 911 when Brayshaw showed up at their home with gunshot wounds.

An autopsy is planned on Brayshaw’s body at MUSC on Tuesday.

Sheriff’s Capt. Bob Bromage said deputies have not determined if the shootings are connected.
