PITTSBURGH (AP) _ This is one opponent the University of Pittsburgh's basketball team knows it can't beat: the NFL Steelers.

The Panthers were unable to switch the time of Saturday afternoon's game against Miami, thus forcing them to compete for fans with the Steelers' home playoff game against New England.

Pittsburgh attempted to shift the game from a 2 p.m. to a 7:30 p.m. start but was unable to do so on short notice due to TV commitments and Miami's travel arrangements. The game will be televised by ESPN's regional network and on WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers' game starts at 12:30 p.m.

Pittsburgh thought it could attract a near-capacity crowd of 6,798 in Fitzgerald Field House for a night game. But the attendance will likely be less than half that in the afternoon.
