CLASS 2A (Top 4 in each weight advance) 106 pounds 2018 champion: Troy’s Sheldeon Seymour (returns) 2019 top seed: Seymour (29-0) defends his regional title and undefeated record as he tries to improve on last year’s fourth-place finish at states. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Tunkhannock’s Owen Woods (28-7), Lake-Lehman’s Mason Konigus (9-15), Meyers’ Kristofer Fonseca (17-10). Contenders to watch: Woods’ District 2 tournament debut ended in gold after a pair of pins. ... Fonseca is the final wrestler with bouts remaining in Mohawks history. ... Line Mountain’s Blake Wirth (23-13) is a returning PIAA qualifier 113 pounds 2018 champion: Montoursville’s Wyatt Lutz (graduated) 2019 top seed: Benton’s Gable Strickland (25-3) took second to Seymour in last year’s 106 regional final, and he placed fifth in the PIAA. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Lackawanna Trial’s Michael Bluhm (33-5), Blue Ridge’s Gavin Crawford (29-13), Scranton Prep’s Jack Lynett (18-14). Contenders to watch: Bluhm won both his D2 matches by fall for a title in his tourney debut. ... Mifflinburg’s Gabriel Gramly (35-5) made it to states as a freshman. 120 pounds 2018 champion: Southern Columbia’s Jaret Lane (graduated) 2019 top seed: Tunkhannock’s David Evans (18-2) returned from a broken arm to repeat as D2 champion, this time in 2A. He was a 3A regional finalist in 2018. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Evans, Scranton Prep’s Antonio D’Apollonio (29-5), Hanover Area’s Joe Rowley (33-9) Contenders to watch:Warrior Run’s Noah Hunt (24-6) is a two-time state qualifier who made it to last year’s regional final at 113. ... Montoursville’s Brock Lutz (31-8) is District 4’s champion and has the second-most wins in this bracket. 126 pounds 2018 champion: Athens’ A.J. Burkhart (graduated) 2019 top seed:Lake-Lehman’s Zach Stuart (24-8) went from runner-up to D2 champion in his second season; now, he can improve on last year’s early regional exit. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Stuart, Blue Ridge’s Nathaniel McArthur (30-9), Scranton Prep’s Ayden Berndt (18-17). Contenders to watch: McArthur finished his season fifth on the regional medal stand last year. ... Muncy’s Bryce Vollman (28-5) also took fifth and fell a point short of state qualification last year. ... Southern Columbia’s Ian Yoder (27-11) is in his second regional, third in D4 behind Vollman and champion Matthew Carpenter (27-5) of Williamson. 132 pounds 2018 champion: Benton’s Cole Rhone (graduated) 2019 top seed: Southern Columbia’s Patrick Edmonson (40-7) placed third in the region and sixth in the state last season as a freshman, and he’s tied for the most wins in this entire regional. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Montrose’s Joe Hester (37-2), Lake-Lehman’s Bob Long (28-6), Lackawanna Trail’s Dalton Klinges (18-12). Contenders to watch: Hester is looking for his first trip to Hershey after edging Long for his first D2 title; both wrestlers are here for a fourth time. ... Sullivan County’s Nathan Higley (31-2), a 2018 state medalist as a freshman, adds to the top talent crammed into this bracket. 138 pounds 2018 champion: Bloomsburg’s Matthew Milbrand (graduated) 2019 top seed: Muncy’s Mario Barberio (35-7) has won medals in his first two trips to regionals and returns as D4’s champion. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Wyoming Area’s Connor Wrobleski (32-10), Scranton Prep’s Joe Monahan (28-9), Lake-Lehman’s Josh Bonomo (15-13). Contenders to watch: Wrobleski was the only freshman on his D2 medal stand, winning gold in a 4-3 decision. ... Hughesville’s Luke Gorg (31-6) took third at 120 last year. ... Midd-West’s Avery Bassett (31-2) made it to states on a fourth-place finish last year. 145 pounds 2018 champion: Montoursville’s Dylan Bennett (now at 170) 2019 top seed: Tunkhannock’s Gavin D’Amato (27-8) was a 3A district champ who missed regionals last year; he’s back on top of D2 after consecutive 1-point decisions for gold. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): D’Amato, Lake-Lehman’s Hunter Burke (20-7), Western Wayne’s Matthew Leslie (24-8) Contenders to watch:Burke was a fifth-place finisher as a freshman last year. ... Southern Columbia’s Gavin Garcia (20-1) has been on a roll in his freshman year, losing once and winning D4. 152 pounds 2018 champion: Southern Columbia’s Cade Linn (now at 160) 2019 top seed: Hanover Area’s D.J. Erickson (35-4) can get another shot at Northeast gold following last year’s one-point loss in the 145 finals. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3):Erickson, Lake-Lehman’s Jake Trumbower (17-7), Blue Ridge’s Adam Roe (33-9) Contenders to watch:Muncy’s Coleman Good (20-6), an ’18 state qualifier, opens vs. Erickson again after losing to the him in last year’s quarterfinals, 1-0. ... Good topped Roe by one point to make it to states, while Roe placed sixth. ... Benton’s Nolan Lear (32-5) is D4’s champion as a freshman. 160 pounds 2018 champion: Mifflinburg’s Tyler Stoltzfus (not in tournament) 2019 top seed: Southern Columbia’s Cade Linn (17-5) is a two-time Northeast finalist who won last year at 152 and then placed at states. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Western Wayne’s Kasen Taylor (20-11), Scranton Prep’s Alec Buttner (19-6), Blue Ridge’s Thomas Gudykunst (25-16). Contenders to watch: Taylor’s two pins in less than a minute helped lift him to a D2 title; he returns here after a sixth-place showing in 2018. ... Towanda’s Cooper Mosier (32-4), D4’s runner-up behind Linn, lost a tight 3-2 decision to Linn in last year’s quarterfinals before placing fifth. 170 pounds 2018 champion: Lackawanna Trail’s Owen Hivner (graduated) 2019 top seed: Montoursville’s Dylan Bennett (36-5) won regional gold with a one-point decision over Hanover Area’s Erickson at 145 last year. He’s D4’s champ again. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Lake-Lehman’s Nick Zaboski (22-8), Wyoming Area’s Robin Wrobleski (32-8), Western Wayne’s Alexander Hollister (20-8). Contenders to watch: Zaboski fell in two close decisions last year as D2’s last 152-pound qualifier but has bounced back with a D2 title as a sophomore. ... Athens’ David Galasso (31-5) reached states in fourth at this weight last season. 182 pounds 2018 champion: Southern Columbia’s Gaige Garcia (now at 195) 2019 top seed: Jersey Shore’s Hunter O’Connor (29-4) was a regional runner-up in 2018, later winding up on the PIAA medal stand. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Tunkhannock’s Jeff Meader (13-6), Hanover Area’s Hunter Karpovich (12-8), Montrose’s Marc Avila (26-9). Contenders to watch: Meader, a freshman, was a handful at districts with two pins and a default title win. ... Muncy’s Mike Kustanbauter repeated at fifth place here last season. 195 pounds 2018 champion: Montoursville’s Gavin Hoffman (graduated) 2019 top seed: Southern Columbia’s Gaige Garcia (40-0), ranked No. 7 and highest among juniors nationwide at his weight by InterMat, is one of two unbeatens in this tournament. He’s shooting for a third straight regional title on the way to a third state medal following PIAA bronze in 2018. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Montrose’s Bryan Ryan (30-8), Wyoming Area’s Jaryn Polit-Moran (25-7), Tunkhannock’s Nick Marabell (16-9). Contenders to watch: Ryan has gone from zero regionals appearances to D2 champion, and now the senior is two more victories from a regional final and states appearance. ... At 160 a year ago, Montoursville’s Gable Crebs (29-5) took fifth here. 220 pounds 2018 champion: Muncy’s Hunter Poust (graduated) 2019 top seed: Lewisburg’s Dakotah Snyder (37-1) only took sixth last year, but a 2-0 semifinal decision was all that stopped him from the finals and the PIAA tourney. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Lake-Lehman’s T.J. Meehan (19-10), Blue Ridge’s Eli Aldrich (15-11), Lackawanna Trail’s Bryce VanFleet (10-10). Contenders to watch: Two pins earned Meehan his first D2 title, and he’ll try to end his memorable senior year in Hershey. ... Montoursville’s Cameron Wood (36-4) shook off a first-round loss by one point last year, wrestling back to third and a states berth. ... Southern Columbia’s Preston Zachman (39-7), third in D4 behind Wood and Snyder, is one win shy of tying the high mark among tournament qualifiers. 285 pounds 2018 champion: Southern Columbia’s John Fulmer (graduated) 2019 top seed: Southern Columbia’s Lear Quinton (37-6) was regional runner-up as a sophomore last year — wrestling three-time state champion Gavin Hoffman in the 195 finals made it tough to do any better. District 2’s wrestlers (Seeds 1-3): Tunkhannock’s Jhamal Zacharias (17-5), Montrose’s Justin Kelley (24-12), Western Wayne’s Jack McAllister (7-8). Contenders to watch: Zacharias overwhelmed D2 opponents with his size advantage last weekend to win gold as a sophomore. ... Midd-West’s Owen Zechman (23-5) placed at regionals in ’18.
