APD: Two young men missing, in danger

December 19, 2018

Collin Romero, 15 (APD) Ahmed Lateef (APD)Police say two men have not been seen since Sunday and a video showing them being beaten in the mesa has surfaced on social media.

Albuquerque police spokesman Simon Drobik said Collin Romero, 15, was reported missing by Romero’s mother after she learned of a Snapchat video showing Romero and another young man, Ahmed Lateef, being beaten in the mesas west of Albuquerque.

“The video showed Collin and Ahmed bleeding with what appeared to be broken bones,” he said.

Drobik said police believe the pair may have been involved in a drug deal “that may have gone bad” near Juan Tabo and Comanche NE.

“Both subjects have not been heard from since and their whereabouts are unknown,” he said.

Drobik did not give Lateef’s age or any description, but described Romero as 5 feet 10 inches with brown hair and brown eyes.

Tips: Anyone with information is asked to call the missing person’s unit at (505) 242-2677.
