Herberg Earns HE Award

LOWELL -- Senior goaltender Christoffer Hernberg (Espoo, Finland) of the 14th-ranked UMass Lowell hockey team has been named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month.

Hernberg, who won the award for the second time in his River Hawk career, posted a 4-0-1 record in five starts in January, posting a 2.16 GAA and .923 save percentage with one shutout. Hernberg allowed two goals or fewer in three contests, including 33 saves in the 2-1 road win at No. 2 UMass to start the new year.

“Chris had an outstanding month. He was instrumental in our team picking up key points throughout the month,” said UML head coach Norm Bazin. “He continues to show a high level of compete and continues to earn his starts during this final league stretch.”

Hernberg has posted a 7-2-1 record in 10 starts for the River Hawks , totaling a 2.57 GAA and a .905 save percentage with two shutouts.
