Man out on bond arrested for stealing mail

A man who allegedly stole mail from west Houston mailboxes is in custody after being arrested by Harris County Precinct 5 Constable deputies.

According to a Constable’s Office news release, Carson Mackenzie, 32, “was arrested early Saturday (Jan. 26) morning in the 12900 block of Briar Forest Drive. At 1:30 a.m., witnesses reported Mackenzie had been parked in the 12700 block of Emsworth Circle and was throwing mail out of his car window.”

After being stopped by deputies, a “large amount of mail from multiple addresses” was found in the back seat of Mackenzie’s car. Also discovered were “several credit cards in a his wallet that did not belong to him.”

Mackenzie has been booked on felony charges of fraudulent use of identifying information. He is being held in the Harris County Jail on $15,000 bond.

At the time he was arrested, Mackenzie was out on a $20,000 surety bond for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

Mackenzie was scheduled to be back in court on Thursday, Jan. 31.
