DMI Expands its Connected Vehicle Center of Excellence Adding Hundreds of Jobs
Global Mobility Leader Ushers in “Motown 2.0” — the next wave of automobile innovation
DETROIT, Oct. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DMI, a global leader in end-to-end mobility solutions, today announced the expansion of its Detroit-based Center of Excellence for Connected Vehicles. As a pioneer in connected cars, DMI plans to create hundreds of jobs to support accelerating demand from the automotive industry.
“I like to think of our Center as Motown 2.0 — the next wave of automobile innovation with mobility being the new motor,” said Jay Sunny Bajaj, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of DMI. “Detroit is my hometown, so it feels rewarding to be able to play a role in the city’s revitalization.”
With more than 250 million connected cars forecasted to hit the road by 2020, today’s auto manufacturers are increasingly focused on mobility within the driver experience. New research shows today’s drivers expect a smartphone-style experience from the moment they turn the ignition switch — including voice commands, touch-screens and apps.
“As the auto industry becomes increasingly tech-savvy, automakers and OEMs need to balance the demands of ‘always-on’ consumers with driver safety,” says Dan Perlick, President of IoT and Cloud Services at DMI. “Our Center of Excellence for Connected Vehicles helps automakers address this urgent challenge.”
The Center of Excellence is part of DMI’s continued investment in the city of Detroit and the American auto industry. The company’s Detroit office currently employs 250 connected vehicle experts, with plans to create up to 750 additional jobs over the next two years. DMI currently works with seven of the top ten OEMs supporting a diverse set of connected vehicle initiatives, ranging from driver experience to new revenue models.
The expansion comes just one year after DMI announced its acquisition of Detroit-based Lochbridge — a market leader in IoT solutions for the automotive industry.
DMI’s Center of Excellence is part of a broader corporate presence in Michigan. Outside of automotive, DMI brings its expertise in digital transformation and IoT to many other Michigan-based clients, including the City of Detroit, Detroit Public Schools and the State of Michigan, as well as numerous locally-based enterprises.
