Charleston schools spend $33,000 on billboards for teachers
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A school district in South Carolina has spent more than $33,000 on billboards to tell its teachers they are appreciated.
The Charleston County School District put the message “Charleston County School District Thanks Our Teachers!” on both digital and traditional billboards along Interstate 26.
District spokesman Andy Pruitt told The Post and Courier of Charleston that the billboards were placed for Teacher Appreciation Week, going up on May 6.
Pruitt says the $33,650 for the billboards came out of the district’s $125,000 advertising budget.
The billboards went up just days after 10,000 people came to the Statehouse in Columbia for a teacher rally .
