CHICAGO (AP) _ An 18-year-old man died of a possible heart attack during a basketball game on the same playground court where his father played before dying of a heart attack in 1976, the victim's mother said Sunday.

Rodney Harris was pronounced dead at 4:36 p.m. Friday in Bernard Mitchell Hospital, said Anne Duggan of the University of Chicago Hospitals.

''His diagnosis was head injury and possible cardiac arrest,'' said Ms. Duggan. She said Harris apparently injured his head in a fall after he was stricken.

Harris' mother, Barbara, said her 31-year-old husband, Willie Harris, died of a heart attack in 1976 shortly after returning home from playing basketball on the same court.

She said her son had shown no prior symptoms of heart problems.
