SW Missouri St. 39, Tenn.-Martin 7

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) _ Michael Cosey rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns and Southwest Missouri’s defense held Tennessee-Martin to negative rushing yardage for a 39-7 win Saturday.

Tennessee-Martin (0-2) rushed for negative 14 yards in 22 attempts. The Skyhawks’ only score came on an 83-yard touchdown pass to Lenny Harris from Jeff McCrone in the second quarter.

Southwest Missouri (3-1) was led by Cosey and Wayne Boyer, who booted four field goals.

Southwest Missouri, ranked 10th in Division I-AA, began its scoring in the first quarter with a 24-yard field goal from Boyer. In the second quarter, Jeremy Hoog ran in for a TD from the 11 and Boyer added a 19-yard field goal.

After Cosey’s two TD runs put the Bears up 26-7, Boyer booted a 48-yard field goal. In the fourth quarter, Stacy Pittman rushed for a 4-yard score and Boyer added a 25-yard field goal.
