Fast facts: With only one team in this field having a losing record, it figures to be a grueling sectional. Riley and Penn are the prohibitive favorites and they meet in an opener with La Porte getting the winner in a semifinal. The Kingsmen edged the Wildcats 63-61 at Riley about three weeks ago. The Slicers are 2-1 against the field, beating Clay by five and Adams by 12, but falling to Riley by six. La Porte has some quality wins, defeating Chesterton, Logansport and Adams.

NORTH NEWTON — Garet Belt (9.0 ppg), John Wendelburg (5.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg). WINAMAC — Calvin Larkin (21.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg), Will Larkin (12.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg).

Fast facts: The main reason Winamac is listed as the favorite in this sectional is because they defeated Marquette, the reigning three-time champion of this sectional, back on Jan. 26 at home, 57-55. They’re also hosting the sectional. The Warriors also beat Hebron (49-28) on Dec. 20 and North Judson (75-41) on Jan. 11. The odds favor the hosts, but Marquette has played a more rugged schedule and have won five straight sectionals going back to their back-to-back state title runs in 2014 and 2015. They should meet in the sectional semifinals and the winner of that potential matchup will be a big favorite to win the sectional.
