Akron Community Foundation’s Millennium Fund for Children seeks grant proposals

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Community Foundation’s Millennium Fund for Children is accepting grant applications from nonprofit organizations that aim to improve the lives of area children.

The fund is a permanent endowment created through a partnership between the Akron Community Foundation and the Akron Beacon Journal/Ohio.com.

Every year, a selection committee made up of fund donors recommends grants to nonprofit organizations based in Summit, Cuyahoga, Medina, Portage, Stark and Wayne counties. Last year the Millennium Fund awarded $42,800 in grants to support arts, education and health programs for local youth. Recent grants have provided food and clothing for at-risk youth, gifts for children in foster care and live theater performances for area students.

Requests for Millennium Fund grants can be made online at www.akroncf.org/ApplyMillennium. The deadline to apply is Saturday, Sept. 1. For questions about the application process, contact John Garofalo, vice president of community investment, at 330-436-5624 or jgarofalo@akroncf.org.

Millennium Fund for Children corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available.
