Shots Fired at ABC Cameraman

November 6, 1999

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ An ABC cameraman preparing to cover a college football game was shot at by his ex-wife Saturday, authorities said.

The woman entered Ross-Ade Stadium and fired two shots from a .38-caliber revolver at Samuel Tamez, who was working at the north end of the stadium, Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg said.

Tamez, 42, wrestled the woman to the ground and held her for university police, Norberg said. He was not injured.

Arrested was Tamez’s ex-wife, Terry M. Tamez, 37, of San Antonio. She faces a preliminary charge of attempted murder, Norberg said.

Few people were in the stadium when the shooting occurred a few minutes before noon, Norberg said. The game, between Wisconsin and Purdue, was scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
