Gang Fight At Hartford Courthouse Leaves One Wounded
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) _ A man was wounded outside Superior Court on Friday in the state’s second gang-related courthouse shooting this month.
The shooting occurred during a sidewalk confrontation between members of the Latin Kings and Los Solidos, said Chief State’s Attorney Jack Bailey.
″The Latin Kings members were going in to take care of a motor vehicle violation and the Los Solidos were exiting,″ Manzi said. ″And it was just a situation where your colors don’t match mine.″
The victim, Norman DeLeon, was listed in stable condition Friday.
Five Latin Kings members were arrested on charges of third-degree assault and breach of peace. Police were preparing a warrant Friday night for a sixth - the alleged gunman, Manzi said.
Friday’s shooting occurred 13 days after a 17-year-old gang member was wounded on the steps of Bristol Superior Court and three months after another 17-year-old gang member was shot to death in the lobby of a Hartford jail.
Officials are planning to install bulletproof glass and new security doors at the Bristol courthouse.
