DENVER (AP) _ Barry Bonds hit a solo home run in the first inning against Colorado on Wednesday night, his fourth homer in two games against the Rockies.

Bonds hit Jason Jennings's 1-1 pitch just over the wall in left after Jeff Kent hit a solo shot the previous at-bat. It was Bonds' 39th of the season and the 606th of his career.

Bonds had his fourth career three-homer game Tuesday night against the Rockies, and finished 4-for-4. He had a chance to tie the major league record for homers in a game in the ninth, but hit a flare to left for a double.

Bonds is fourth on the career homers list, trailing only Hank Aaron (755), Babe Ruth (714) and Willie Mays (660).
