Something’s fishy at White Pines: IDNR stocks rainbow trout in the Pine Creek
Anglers itching to get outside and catch dinner were given a taste of things to come Thursday morning when the IDNR stocked rainbow trout in the Pine Creek at White Pines State Park – but the fish are safe for now. The 2019 spring trout season doesn’t open until 5 a.m. April 6, with a daily limit of five trout. Anglers will need a fishing license and an Inland Trout Stamp to go fishin’, unless they are under the age of 16, blind or disabled, or are an Illinois resident on leave from active duty in the Armed Forces. Licenses can be purchased at dnr.illinois.gov or by calling 888-673-7648. Permits also are available at bait shops and other retail outlets – go to shawurl.com/2v6u to find local sites. The IDNR also stocks the Hennepin Canal in Bureau County and Centennial Park Pond in Rock Falls.
