Man makes initial appearance for burglarizing Watertown home

December 28, 2018

JUNEAU -- A signature bond was set at $5,000 Wednesday afternoon in Dodge County Circuit Court for a 60-year-old Madison man charged with burglarizing a Watertown home.

Donald Beran faces one felony count of burglary and two misdemeanor charges of criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.

According to the criminal complaint, the homeowner called police on Saturday to tell them someone had broken in the residence and took an address book. Beran also threw things around in the home after entering the residence.

Law enforcement called Beran, and he allegedly said that he used force to enter the residence because he didn’t have a key and said he wanted the address book to reach someone.

If convicted of all the charges, Beran faces $61,000 in fines and 16 years in prison.

Beran is scheduled back in Dodge County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 14, 2019.
