NEW YORK (AP) _ Stocks that were moving substantially or trading heavily Tuesday on the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq Stock Market.


Footstar Inc., down 37 cents at $6.45

The discount footwear retailer said December same-store sales, those at outlets open at least a year, rose 2.1 percent, but fourth-quarter same-store sales declined 0.9 percent. Footstar also said fourth-quarter sales overall dropped 11.3 percent to $566.3 million.

EMC Corp., up 67 cents at $7.47

EMC said late Monday it expects fourth-quarter earnings to come in between 1 and 2 cents a share on revenue of more than $1.47 billion. The data storage company said that customer spending was better than expected.

Tiffany & Co., down 47 cents at $25.05

Tiffany cut its fourth-quarter earnings estimate to a range of 57 cents to 62 cents, down from 60 cents to 65 cents. The retailer cited weak holiday sales, a lower gross margin and a higher expense ratio.


Dollar Tree Stores Inc., up $1.44 at $26.70

Brokerage house Fulcrum raised its rating on retailer Dollar Tree to ``neutral″ from ``sell.″

Xilinx Inc., up $1.21 at $25.45

Prudential raised its recommendation on Xilinx to ``buy″ from ``hold.″

Gymboree Corp., down $1.98 at $13.92

Retailer Gymboree lowered its fourth-quarter profit outlook to a range of 33 cents to 36 cents a share, down from 38 cents to 40 cents, and cut is full-year estimate to between 70 cents and 73 cents a share, down from 75 cents to 77 cents.
