Dear Mayor Blad
Upon reading the “Post Register” article of Tuesday, March 19th, 2019, “Local Man Facing Deportation Flees to Canada”, I was appalled and devastated by what the “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement” and the “U.S. Board of Immigration Appeals” have done to Chris Matimba and his family. Chris has lived in Pocatello for 17 years, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Idaho State University, worked hard and paid taxes to our Country like all good citizens.
Chris long ago paid his dues or a misdemeanor, which ultimately was dismissed.
I very strongly feel that Mr. Matimba has been singled out and discriminated against because he is non-white; this coming from a fair haired white individual who always felt everyone is equal and should be treated so. What has happened to our America that welcomed everyone? “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” 1883 Emma Lazarus.
Please Mr. Blad, is there anything you can do to save this man Chris Matimba and his family?
Donna M. Reeves,
