Eindalen Wins Biathlon Event

HOCHFILZEN, Austria (AP) _ Olympic winner Ole-Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway, braving a cold and a penalty minute, won the season’s opening biathlon World Cup event Thursday.

The Norwegian had an impressive 54.3-second advantage over Ruslan Lysenko of Ukraine. His 10th career World Cup victory gives Bjoerndalen a chance to start as the first competitor Saturday in the 12.5-kilometer pursuit race.

Bjoerndalen, who finished second last season, also won this tace last year.
