STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) _ Sophomore Evette Porter scored a career-high 25 points as Mississippi State defeated Northeast Louisiana 81-59 Wednesday night.
The Lady Bulldogs (3-4) had the period’s largest lead of 11 points twice, and led 32-24 at halftime.
The Lady Indians (0-6) got as close as four in the second half at 32-28. But with MSU leading 49-40 with 9:51 remaining in the game, State posted an 18-0 run to take a commanding 67-40 lead and ultimately win the game.
Porter was top scorer for Mississippi State followed by senior LaCharlotte Smith who had 18 points. Sophomore Sharon Thompson added another 14 points.
NLU was led by Monica Davis with 18 points and nine rebounds.
