Man pleads guilty in death of 9-year-old Ferguson girl

CLAYTON, Mo. (AP) — The man accused of fatally shooting a 9-year-old Ferguson girl in 2015 has been sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and other charges.

De’Eris Brown entered the plea Friday, three days before his trial was scheduled to begin.

Jamyla Bolden was doing homework on a bed in her home on Aug. 18, 2015, when shots were fired into the house. Police are unsure if the home was targeted or if the shots were random.

Jamyla’s mother, Kendrick Henderson, was wounded.
