MEEK MILL AND JAY Z JOIN THE REFORM ALLIANCE

NEW YORK (AP) — Meek Mill says he never asked to be the face of criminal justice reform, but he recognizes that he can be a voice for those who don’t have one. Mill has joined forces with Jay-Z and the owners of the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and New England Patriots to announce the launch of The Reform Alliance. It will lobby for changes to state probation and parole laws. Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison for minor violations of his probation on a drug and gun possession case from ten years ago. Mill says the current justice system is “basically targeted for people that look like me.” Jay Z says they don’t want police to be in danger, and anyone who commits a crime should go to jail, but “these things are just disproportionate and the whole world knows it.”

OLD DOMINION RETHINKS THE ONSTAGE DANCE PARTY

NASHVILLE (AP) — Old Dominion used to pull a few members of the audience on stage with them to have a little dance party as part of their concerts. They had to rethink that after it got out of hand once while they were opening for Sam Hunt. Singer Matthew Ramsey says usually they cherry-pick a few people to come up, but suddenly the whole stage was full of people. Guitarist Trevor Rosen says, “It was like a zombie movie. They just kept climbing up.” They wouldn’t leave, either. Ramsey says it’s like they all decided, “This is where we live now.”

FENDER INTRODUCES REPRODUCTION OF JIMMY PAGE’S DRAGON GUITAR

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jimmy Page’s dragon guitar lives again. Guitar maker Fender introduced its replica of Page’s 1959 Telecaster guitar he received as a gift from Jeff Beck. Page painted a dragon on it, and he wrote “Dazed and Confused” on it. A house-sitter did not think much of it in the 1960s and put his own mosaic art on it as a gift for Page. Page was so angry he stripped the paint off and threw it in storage for 50 years. Fender master builder Paul Waller says Page came to Fender’s plant in California and was as much in awe of the machinery as the employees were of Page. Waller says Page told him the finished product was a dead ringer for the original, and if anything, the colors are slightly richer.
