Local students invited to participate in summer reading program

DAILY CHRONICLE – news@daily-chronicle.comMay 22, 2019

SYCAMORE – State Rep. Jeff Keicher is inviting children with a thirst for reading to dive into books all summer long.

Keicher announced his “It’s Showtime at Your Library” program in a media release. The reading program is available for kindergarten through fifth-grade students who live or attend school in Illinois’ 70th Legislative District, which includes most of DeKalb and Sycamore.

Participating students will be invited to an ice cream recognition party in August to receive an official certificate from the Illinois House of Representatives.

Students must have a parent or guardian sign and submit a form to Keicher’s office by July 19. Forms can be found in program brochures that have been distributed to local elementary schools, or available for pickup at Keicher’s District office at 158 W. State St., Suite C., Sycamore or online at www.repkeicher.com.

“It’s Showtime at Your Library” encourages students to read eight books over their summer break.

To help celebrate Illinois’ bicentennial, Rep. Keicher is urging students to read a book about Illinois or about an Illinois native that made major contributions to the state.
