Tree house takes shape at St. Cloud Commons

October 10, 2018

HUNTINGTON — Crews from Custom Playgrounds installed a “Tree 4 All” tree house, made from glass fiber, reinforced concrete and weighing more than 13,000 pounds, at St. Cloud Commons on Monday.

It was part of the construction that is underway on the first phase of the St. Cloud Commons All-Inclusive Playground, which aims to be a place for kids of all ages and abilities to play. The tree house incorporates elements of nature, including a bark exterior, climbing grips, a slide and nooks for small animals to hide.

The playground is a project of the Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District, which is still fund-raising to complete the next two construction phases. The entire project is expected to cost approximately $1.2 million, including wheelchair accessible equipment and activities for all ages. Donations of any size are being accepted at https://donations.ghprd.org/.
