Chicago Bears place OLB Acho on I.R.
OLB Sam Acho was placed on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle, and OL Bryan Witzmann was signed to take his place on the 53-man roster.
The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Witzmann started 13 games for the Chiefs last season at left guard when Bears coach Matt Nagy was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City. The 28-year-old played in 11 games in 2016 but had no starts. He was in the Vikings’ training camp this year and made the 53-man roster but had not seen any game action and was waived last Friday. Witzmann was undrafted out of South Dakota State in 2014 but signed with the Texans and spent that season on injured reserve. He spent most of 2015 on the Saints’ practice squad.
Rookie James Daniels is listed as the Bears’ top backup at all three interior O-line positions, although he and Eric Kush alternated series in Week Four against the Bucs, and that arrangement could continue.
