Pipestone, Hy-Vee team up to donate pork to Northern Illinois Food Bank
SYCAMORE – Pipestone and Hy-Vee will team up on a project that will donate pork to the Northern Illinois Food Bank, according to a news release.
Pipestone, a veterinary service and pig management company, will donate a pound of pork loin to the food bank located in Geneva for every ham purchased at the Sycamore Hy-Vee as part of the “Give a Helping Ham” project, according to a news release. The project ends Nov. 24.
Pipestone CEO Dr. Luke Minion said in the release that the program is a simple way to get the community involved in giving back. It is also meant to provide families with protein that they may not otherwise have.
Last year, the program donated more than 82,000 pounds of pork to local food banks across the Midwest, the release said.
