Ramada Inn sold, will become Clarion Inn & Suites
FLORENCE, S.C. – The Ramada Inn on U.S. 52 near Interstate 95 has been sold to a new hospitality company, which will invest $1 million-plus into a two-phase renovation.
The hotel, which opened on 10 acres in the 1970s as a Holiday Inn, will become a Rodeway Inn & Suites and will then become a Clarion Inn & Suites by the end of the year.
H&L Hospitality has signed a franchise agreement with Choice Hotels International Gary Hodgins is the managing partner and Stephen Lam is the general partner of the new company.
The renovated hotel will feature 51 two-bedroom suites along with 20 standard king and 100 standard double-queen rooms for a total of 171 units.
The renovation also will include the re-opening of the extensive restaurant, bar and banquet facilities.
“The opportunity and timing presented itself for Stephen and I to move forward with this hotel purchase, and we are looking forward to working with the Choice Hotel team in making this hotel a great lodging comfort stay for locals and traveling guest stopping in the Florence, SC area off of I 95,” Hodgins said.
Hodgins and Lam have had a professional relationship for 15 years.
Hodgins has been employed in the hospitality field of accounting and finance for 40-plus years. He retired in September 2016 from the famous ocean front Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa in Montauk, New York, where he held the position of CFO for the past 15 years.
Lam is the founder and chief executive officer of Lam Associates. He heads up an accounting and financial services firm with offices located in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Texas and California.
