Intersport’s Third Annual Do Good Week® to Inspire Kindness and Promote Good News Nov. 11-17

November 9, 2018

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 9, 2018--Intersport is bringing Do Good Week events to New Orleans, Seattle and Chicago.

Do Good Week, the first and only week-long movement that actively encourages people to demonstrate kindness and compassion, is set to take place Nov. 11-17. Throughout the week people across the country are invited to share their positive stories on social media using the hashtag #DoGoodWeek.

What started as an effort to change the social media conversation for one week in 2016, has expanded to a social and experiential movement to inspire kindness, give back and promote good news.

“Intersport is excited to celebrate and inspire kindness during Do Good Week,” said Shannon Dan, Executive Vice President, Intersport. “What started as a way of infusing kindness into social conversation has truly become a movement, and we look forward to growing this effort and its impact for years to come.”

Now in its third year, Do Good Week will be brought to life in its biggest year yet through activities aimed at inspiring kindness and making a difference in New Orleans, Seattle and Chicago.

On the heels of Veterans Day, and to thank those who have served, Do Good Week volunteers and the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame Wide Receiver Michael Lewis are teaming up Monday, Nov. 12 at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home to emcee a talent show.

“Our veterans have been asking to do a talent show for a while, so they are thrilled to see this request come to life thanks to some very kind volunteers in honor of Do Good Week,” said Sonya Hebert, Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home Activities Director. “We have some veterans who are singers, dancers and even poets, who have been preparing their talents for a few months now in anticipation of this talent show. They’re going to have so much fun!”

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, award-winning Chef Holly Smith of Café Juanita, will lead an impactful volunteer event at Mary’s Place Seattle, an emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness in the Pacific Northwest. Volunteers will help prepare the day’s meals for the Women’s Day Center and help package pantry starter kits for families who have recently been placed into housing.

“I am excited to work with everyone at Mary’s Place alongside this passionate group of volunteers to create a healthy and dynamic meal for the shelter in honor of Do Good Week,” said Smith. “I care deeply about helping ensure everyone have access to wholesome meals. I have long admired Mary’s Place and feel fortunate to be able to help.”

Do Good Week will wrap up Friday, Nov. 16 in Chicago where citygoers will be treated to random acts of kindness. Chicagoans should keep their eyes peeled for Do Good Week volunteers and local celebrities, like former Chicago football star Alex Brown, as they visit local businesses and landmarks throughout the day to hand out gifts and pay it forward.

Everyone is encouraged to join the movement to spread good during Do Good Week. Get involved by volunteering with a non-profit, buy a stranger a coffee, hide a Kindness Rock or take care of an elderly neighbor’s lawn. Then, share that positive story on social media using #DoGoodWeek.
